“My name is Morgan Peterson and I am beyond excited to be receiving the Alana Cope Eaton Scholarship! Piano has been so important to me for my whole life. I have taken private lessons, done Solo and Ensemble festivals, Jazz Band, and I'm ready to see where it takes me next. It gives me the opportunity to apply my skills to other areas such as choir and percussion, as well as the opportunity to constantly improve, express myself, and connect with others. I plan on continuing piano for the rest of my life, it's so much fun and so special to me!”

Betsy Wiscombe Piano Scholarship Recipient

Alexis Hill

Recipient: Alexis Hill

High School: Maple Mountain High School in Spanish Fork, UT

University: Southern Utah University

“My name is Alexis Hill and I am from Spanish Fork, Utah. I have been playing the piano for over 10 years and from the beginning I have deeply loved performing. I love sharing my talents, inspiring others, and teaching young children piano. I have been teaching piano since the age of 12 and plan to continue helping kids find a love for music. I am the current Miss Spanish Fork and I love the opportunities it provides me with including performances, service, and the incredible people I get to work with. I will be attending Southern Utah University in the fall with plans of becoming a nurse practitioner specializing in pediatric oncology.”

CAROLYN REID OGDEN Piano Scholarship Recipient

Ava Lamb

Recipient: Ava Lamb

High School: North Sanpete High School in Mount Pleasant, Utah

University: Snow College

Ava Lamb has always loved music, but her love for the piano is something she deeply cherishes. She has played the piano for 13 years, and has participated in National Music Associations Piano festival for 12 years earning straight superiors as well as her 60pt cup this year. Ava has been very involved with her school's music department. She has been the pianist for the jazz band all four years, a member of the percussion ensemble for two, and a member of the choir for three, acting as the alto section leader two of those. Ava is a student body officer at her school and has enjoyed every opportunity to represent her school at multiple music-related activities.

“To the family of Carolyn Reid, I would just like to say thank you. When I came across this scholarship and read the biography, I just felt like I needed to apply. I felt like I could relate a lot to her music experiences a lot as I've participated in many similar ones. Carolyn sounded like such a wonderful lady, and I am honored to be selected as a recipient of her love of the piano.”

Claudia Bigler Choral Scholarship Recipient

Recipient: Ariana Blanchard

High School: Mountain Ridge High School in Herriman, Utah

University: Utah State University

Ariana Blanchard is part of the Mountain Ridge High School, in Herriman, Utah, class of 2023. She has loved attending this school, and she has had the amazing opportunity to have been apart of the choral program all 3 years of high school. She has participated in the Concert Choir, the Legacy Women’s Choir, and the Madrigal Choir and has loved every second of it.

Dee Pace Theater Scholarship Recipient

Hannah Evans

Recipient: Hannah Evans

High School: Lone Peak High School, Highland, Utah

University: Manhattan School of Music

Hannah Evans is a senior at Lone Peak High School who is passionate about theater. Since the age of eleven she has worked and dedicated her teen years to theater arts. Now, at the age of seventeen, Hannah has participated in an impressive 26 productions—including Frozen Jr, Into the Woods, Beauty and the Beast Jr, Mary Poppins Jr, Descendants, Bright Star, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and many more!

Hannah is a dedicated student, with a 3.97 GPA. She works tirelessly on her studies, putting in long hours to ensure that she achieves the results she wants. Her hard work and dedication are evident in everything she does, whether it's on stage or in the classroom. When she is not studying, rehearsing or performing, Hannah is most often found with a book or spending time with family and friends. Hannah will be attending Manhattan School of Music in the fall of 2023 with an emphasis in Musical Theater and Vocal Performance.

Dee Pace Theater Scholarship Recipient

Kara Blanchard

Recipient: Kara Blanchard

High School: Woods Cross High School, Bountiful, Utah

University: University of Utah

Kara Blanchard is a young woman with a passion for music and performance, from Bountiful, Utah. Kara greatly enjoys focusing on her academics, while simultaneously spending lots of time outdoors skiing, hiking, and enjoying the beauty of the great outdoors. This year, Kara was able to represent Woods Cross High School as their Theater and Speech Sterling Scholar, and was also able to perform as a finalist for Best Actress at the Utah High School Musical Theater Awards. Kara is beyond excited to be continuing her education at the University of Utah in Materials Science and Engineering as well as Physics and Musical Theater. Kara would like to thank everyone who has shown her immense love and support throughout her journey as a person, and is more than ready to see what is to come.

“I would like to express a huge thank you to the Dee Pace Memorial Foundation for presenting me with this opportunity. \Musical Theater has always been a huge piece in the puzzle that is my life, and the Legacy that this foundation holds is incredible. Steve Shirt band Scholarship Recipient

Brathan Nielsen

Recipient: Brathan Nielsen

High School: North Sanpete High School in Mount Pleasant, Utah

University: Snow College

Brathan Nielsen is an aspiring composer and musician. He has shown leadership as the drum major for marching band, tenor section leader for choir, and saxopone section leader for concert band and jazz band. He spends most of his time in the practice room perfecting the art of the piano and saxophone. He is very proud and excited to win the Steve Shirts Band Scholarship.
