Salt Lake City, UT — Utah Music Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing scholarships to musical students from Utah communities, is thrilled to announce Laura Anderson as the recipient of the 2022 Alana Cope Eaton piano scholarship. Laura is a 2022 graduate of Uintah High School in Vernal, UT and will be attending Brigham Young University this fall.

“My name is Laura Anderson and I’m from the small town of Vernal, Utah. I am so grateful for the opportunity to receive this scholarship from Alana Cope Eaton.” says Ms. Anderson. “I have been taking piano and violin lessons since I was four years old, and music has been a central part of my life ever since then. This year I auditioned for this scholarship with Franz Liszt’s “Un Sospiro,” a technical and expressive Etude. I have my own piano studio called Anderson A-Tempos and absolutely LOVE teaching kids to enjoy playing the piano as much as I do. I look forward to attending Brigham Young University in the fall where I will be studying nursing and getting a minor in music. ”

This $500 scholarship is awarded each year based on the applicant’s involvement in piano, a recorded performance, and a brief essay. This short essay invites students to reflect on piano has influenced their lives and how they will be involved in piano going forward. The application process opens each spring and applicants are invited to apply at www.utahmusicfoundation.org.
