Salt Lake City, UT — Utah Music Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing scholarships to musical students from Utah communities, is thrilled to announce Jocelyn Tate as the recipient of the 2025 Alana Cope Eaton piano scholarship. Whitney is a 2025 graduate of Farmington High School in Farmington, UT and will be attending Brigham Young University this fall.
Jocelyn Tate has loved music as long as she can remember. She started teaching herself piano when she was eight years old, and she has been playing piano ever since. At age ten, she began teaching piano lessons so that she could share the joy of music with others. Now, she accompanies her madrigals choir and teaches six piano students. This fall, she will attend BYU and continue studying music.
“I am so sincerely grateful to you for selecting me for the Alana Cope Eaton Piano Scholarship. Because of this scholarship, I will be able to save so much time and focus on my studies rather than expenses,” says Ms. Tate. “My goals are so much more achievable with this offer. I hope that one day I can give back by helping others discover their passion for piano.”
This $500 scholarship is awarded each year based on the applicant’s involvement in piano, a recorded performance, and a brief essay. This short essay invites students to reflect on piano has influenced their lives and how they will be involved in piano going forward. The application process opens each spring and applicants are invited to apply at www.utahmusicfoundation.org.
