Salt Lake City, UT — Utah Music Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing scholarships to musical students from Utah communities, is thrilled to announce Bella Gillette as the recipient of the 2025 Conrad Dunn orchestra scholarship. Bella is a 2025 graduate of Snow Canyon High School in St. George, UT and will be attending Brigham Young University.

“My name is Bella Gillette and I'm from Ivins, Utah. At the age of seven, I begged my mom to let me take violin lessons and I have loved playing ever since! I auditioned for my first orchestra in 5th grade and since that time have had the opportunity to be Concertmaster of Snow Canyon High School Orchestra, Zion Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Jr. High All-State Orchestra. I also played with the Utah Tech University Orchestra, High School All-State Orchestra, and Washington County Honors Orchestra. I love performing and have been a finalist for the Southwest Symphony Young Artist Competition for the past three years. I will be attending BYU in the fall and plan to major in Music. Thank you for selecting me for this scholarship.“

This $500 scholarship is awarded each year based on the applicant’s involvement in orchestra, a recorded performance, and a brief essay. This short essay invites students to reflect on orchestra has influenced their lives and how they will be involved in orchestra going forward. The application process opens each spring and applicants are invited to apply at www.utahmusicfoundation.org.

He has spent over 50 years in the field of education. His passion is sharing his knowledge with the youth and instilling a love for music in their lives. He has been teaching orchestra at the Thomas Edison Charter Schools in Cache Valley for the last thirteen years, and has been the conductor of our Northern Utah Youth Symphony for nine years.
